This was me at about 3-1/2 years old. I was born in Grand Rapids, MI at Butterworth Hospital on Labor Day, 1961 (it seemed appropriate). We lived in Grand Rapids until I was about kindergarten aged, then we moved to Newago County and we lived there for a few years. We moved to the Upper Peninsula (Iron Mountain & Norway) when I was about 8. Then back to Newago and Oceana county, and finally back to the Grand Rapids area again.

Gregory Lee Brasic Age 3-1/2 (1964)

One a Spartan, always a Spartan I attended Sparta High School in Sparta, Michigan. Sparta High was a good place to go to high school and I had some great teachers. I took lots of science classes, including advanced chemistry, physics, earth sciences, and a couple biology classes. I experimented with drama and public speaking and was president of the Science Club. I graduated in the class of 1979. It was a good year.

A place of many fond memories
After High school I attended Michigan State University. I started out in Bio-Chemistry but changed later to Limnology, which is Fresh Water Ecology like lake systems and streams. I took a lot of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Botany along with courses on Economics, Math, Humanities, etc. I graduated in 1984 with a BS in Natural Resources Management with a specialization in Limnology. Along the way to getting my education I also worked at a few jobs. First as a pizza cook, then as a lab worker first for the Dept. of Limnology, then for the Dept. of Energy's Plant Research Lab at MSU and for two summers as a SCUBA diver for the Limnological Research Lab in Barbeau, Michigan. It was the experience from these jobs as much as my degree that got me my first job after college.

The author at his workstation 2000 AD After college I worked for Standard Oil in their Biotechnology Research Division, but left after a short time to work for a packaging company in Michigan where I stayed for more than 13 years, eventually working my way up to CIO. I married well (luckily) at the age of twenty-five and my wife Lori and I have two kids. I can say without reservation that my wife is the finest person I know, and my best friend. On the job I acquired a strong background in computer and software technologies, manufacturing techniques, training issues, personnel policies and management, but didn't want to run my own company while co-raising our kids. After reaching the position of CIO I began to feel that I was ready for a new challenge, so with some reluctance and regrets I left my company of 13-1/2 years and embraced a different career that offered me more of everything: training, benefits, pay, and flexibility. I now work as an Automation Engineer specializing in software for factory automation and machine control. Getting into automation engineering software was a great step into a growing market that gives me an interesting and challenging environment. At the same time I changed careers we also relocated from Lansing, MI to a beautiful place in the country. We built a new house and now live on a farm and raise alfalfa, Quarter Horses, and some chickens. In our spare time Lori and I play soccer, and appreciate the natural beauty of our land.

Things I love

Two and Two Quarters
Our Horses as of January 1999   Cody is Lori's horse. She is a 9 year old Sorrel Quarterhorse. Oatsie is my 3 year old Palamino Quarterhorse. Amber is Linden's Chesnut Welsh Highland Pony, and Trouble is Logan's Sorrel Quarterhorse-Pony.

The great beauty of Horses
Our horses on a misty morning August 1999 Here are our horses on a beautiful misty August morning in 1999. Each horse has a personality like a person does. As we get to know them we understand them better each day. Oatsie is the curious and excitable giant, Cody the even tempered and patient follower, Amber the dominant mother figure to the herd, and Trouble the curious and friendly youngster.

A lovely sunrise at the farm
A Beautiful Sunrise on the Farm This is just a sample of the incredible beauty of this area. This sunrise was dazzling! The day turned cloudy and later rained in the late afternoon, but it started out as lovely as a person could hope for.

Former Interests - Rebel Space
Rebel Space   Back in the early 90's I spent a lot of time playing and socializing in Rebel Space, a strategy game by Stormfront Studios hosted by Prodigy. Click here on the graphic if you are interested in learning more.

The 23rd Psalm - A Psalm of David
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Moral Benefits of Wisdom - Pvb 2:6-8
"For the Lord gives us wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones."

Mi Shebeirach - Prayer of healing
May the source of strength who blessed the ones before us, help us find the courage to make our lives a blessing. Bless those in need of healing with r'fu-a sh'lei-ma, The renewal of body, The renewal of spirit, and let us say, Amen.

Oseh Shalom
May the one who makes peace in the high places make peace over us, and over all humanity as together we sing. Amen.
