News - Monday, May 22nd, 2000: Family returns to the farm!

Family visit (Lori, Sue, Melinda St. Louis, Ben & Gae) On the occasion of Nana Katherine Stehr's 94th birthday, Ben & Melinda St. Louis came to Michigan. This photo was taken Monday afternoon just before Sue & Gaelin left with the traveler’s to get them to their next destination. Ben rode Cody and Oatsie with Melinda at his side. They also dug right in and cleaned stalls with Gore and although the time was short a good time was had by all. Melinda gets the "cool dude" award as she felt right at home in the barn and literally dug right in! Thanks you two!

News - May 21st, 2000: The grass is greener on this side of the pasture!

Betsy & Tybo enjoy the great outdoors
Gore working on the bonding process
This past weekend found us repairing our back pasture fences. We restrung several feet of wire and flagged it with visibility tape. Finally, with the weather cooperating and the fences juiced, and tagged we were able to turn the horses out into the lush green pastures. Betsy and Tybo have private accomidations in one pasture while the other three horses are secured in a separate one. We have witnessed some adorable exchanges between Tybo and the world around him. Here Gore tries to present herself as a safe object for Tybo to investigate. He has gotten very close to her but so far in the struggle between his intense curiousity and his fear of the unknown his fear has won out. He usually gets about an arms length away and then in an explosion of fear clumsily wheels away and seeks the comfort of his Mama.
