Gone Fishing!

Greg catches a small keeper King Salmon Logan and I did a four day weekend up north last weekend. We started out by driving Thursday night to my cousin Cary and Karen Shineldeckers place in Ludington, MI. Friday morning after a big breakfast, we hit the lake for some fishing and waves. We caught only one fish on three hits, but it was a good eating size. The boat was unfortunately not well stocked with Dramimine though, so Logan and I both returned a little nutrition to nature, compensating for the protein we were taking, thus giving input to both Nitrogen and Carbon cycles.

Friday Morning we drove to Peterson Bridge campground on the Pine River to camp, then Saturday morning, headed accross the straights to Taquaminon Falls.

Logan with Monster Brook Trout! From Taquaminon Falls we headed by gravel road (U.P. Interstate) west past nowhere to Two Heart, MI where we found a great place to camp on the Two Hearted River. We followed an old logging road back about 3 miles off the main dirt road (only the big U.P. roads have gravel) to the end where there was this beautiful bluff above the river. We set up camp Saturday evening. Sunday morning Logan and I went down the hill (more like a cliff) to the river and fished. Logan caught his first Brook Trout, and what a monster! This fish was so impressive it was unbelievable. We were sure noone would believe he caught it, so Logan turned it loose again to feed on more of those humungous U.P. Mosquitos (the U.P. State Bird) and Horse Flys to get bigger. We will try to catch him again next year.
